Acupuncture
Acupuncture is the insertion of thin, metal needles to stimulate specific points of the body that reach meridians. These stimulation points are called acupuncture points or acupoints. Traditional Chinese medicine holds 361 commonly used acupuncture points on 20 meridians of the human body. Typically, it takes 15 to 30 minutes to manipulate the needles in these acupuncture points and 30 to 60 minutes to retain them. Doing so regulates the flow of qi throughout the body and restores health to the mind and body, thus balancing the yin and yang. The insertions of needles are manipulated by the hand or electrical stimulation, called electroacupuncture.

Chinese Herbal Medicine
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a complete medical system used to diagnose, treat, and prevent illnesses for more than 2,000 years. TCM is based on a belief in yin and yang, defined as opposing energies, such as earth and heaven, winter and summer, and happiness and sadness. When yin and yang are in balance, you feel relaxed and energized. Out of balance, however, yin and yang negatively affect your health.
Practitioners also believe everybody has a life force or energy called Qi (pronounced "chee"). For yin and yang to be balanced and for the body to be healthy, Qi must be balanced and flowing freely. When there is too little or too much Qi in one of the body's energy pathways, called meridians, or when the flow of Qi is blocked, it causes illness.
TCM makes use of herbs and herbal formulas to strengthen organ function and support good health. Understanding the essence of various herbal components gives the TCM practitioner a way to create a healing effect that reaches beyond the herbs' chemical composition and physical properties. The practitioner chooses the herbal formula whose essence or signature energy vibration correctly stimulates or adjusts the body’s energy vibration.
Cupping
The Benefits of Cupping
The primary benefit of cupping is increased blood flow, which helps increase the healing rate in recovery from muscle fatigue, injuries, and other conditions. In addition, many athletes, including Michael Phelps, use cupping on muscle knots to help improve and keep up performance.
Cupping can be used to treat any of the following conditions:
-
Plantar fasciitis
-
Back, hip, and IT band pain
-
Pain in the shoulders, upper back, or neck
-
Carpal tunnel syndrome
-
Fibromyalgia
-
Specific respiratory issues, such as asthma, bronchitis, pneumonia, and chest congestion related to the common cold
Many other chronic conditions can also benefit from cupping.
Cupping in Acupuncture
Cupping can be used as a standalone massage treatment, but cupping can also be combined with acupuncture in one treatment. The suction and negative pressure provided by cupping can loosen muscles, encourage blood flow, and sedate the nervous system (which makes it an excellent treatment for high blood pressure). It pulls tension up, which can then be released by using acupuncture. Acupuncture involves inserting very thin, sterile needles through the skin at strategic points on the body. Acupuncture is based on “Qi,” the energy used to address pain and mobility problems. The practice is used to relieve pain, but more recently, it has found a place in overall wellness promotion – including stress management.
Cosmetic Acupuncture
REFRESH, REJUVENATE, AND REVITALIZE
Cosmetic acupuncture is a non-invasive treatment that involves using acupuncture to improve skin and fight the aging process, sometimes referred to as an "acupuncture facelift" or "facial rejuvenation."
This is the only anti-aging treatment that improves overall health as well as your outward appearance. Cosmetic acupuncture improves blood flow throughout your body, allowing oxygen and nutrients to be delivered more efficiently. This results in greater health and increased vitality. The treatments also improve hydration, often producing a dewy complexion. The increase in blood flow throughout the skin also helps to correct texture and skin coloring imbalances.
Because acupuncture needles are inserted into specific points, they help to relax those tight muscles while strengthening elongated muscles. The process will restore your muscle’s natural functions and create a more lifted and toned appearance. The microtrauma caused by these needles, when inserted directly into fine lines and wrinkles, will increase your skin’s collagen production and fill the surrounding areas.
Bags under the eyes can be caused by many factors, including a lack of sleep, fluid retention, allergies, or hormonal changes. These can all be addressed through consecutive cosmetic acupuncture sessions.
